Podtacular vs Bungie Humpday Challenge: The Sequel!

Well, it looks like it's time to rekindle a friendly rivalry and go head to head with none other than Bungie themselves for another Humpday Challenge!

If you recall (and here's a link if you don't), Podtacular flew the glorious flag of victory after beating Bungie back in June 2006. It was a hard and well-fought battle, but now we're back to do it again in Halo 3! Wish those members of the Podtacular community that will be playing tonight luck!

UPDATE: Well, we can say we started off great, but they got the better of us and things eventually slid downhill as Bungie beat us 2 games to 1. What can we say, it was fair and square (except for one Mr. Luke Smith putting the kick-boot to one of our players during the second game) and above all, it was fun and we definitely look forward to rematch sometime in the future. That and some Team Bubblebath!

UPDATE 2: Here are the final game results from bungie.net:
Game 1 | Game 2 | Game 3

PRO TIP: Download the videos of the matches and watch the action! Just click on one of the games above, go to the Assets tab, and click to download one of the videos of the match.

They'll make you laugh, they'll make you cry. And go ahead, make fun...we're big boys, we can take it.

Bungie and MS heading to Splitsville

As it was rumored earlier this week, Microsoft has now announced that it will be parting ways with Bungie, at least in terms of being a division of the corporation. Microsoft will still continue to publish and work with Bungie on other Halo-related projects.

Quote:
“Our collaboration with Bungie has resulted in ‘Halo’ becoming an enduring mainstream hit,” said Shane Kim, corporate vice president of Microsoft Game Studios. “While we are supporting Bungie’s desire to return to its independent roots, we will continue to invest in our ‘Halo’ entertainment property with Bungie and other partners, such as Peter Jackson, on a new interactive series set in the ‘Halo’ universe. We look forward to great success with Bungie as our long-term relationship continues to evolve through ‘Halo’-related titles and new IP created by Bungie.”

History circling back upon us!

Click for larger view

I just received this email this morning, and it clearly looks like what's becoming another alternate reality game revolving around Halo 3.

Quote:
HISTORY CIRCLING
BACK UPON US.

The gears of the Universe spin further
and further apart.
Ever greater grows the gulf between souls,
And distance gives false hope of safety
But for the grim tidings this messenger bears:

The enemy is almost upon us

Closing in from all sides,
Moving faster than the light
it snuffs with its passage,
Time echoes with the news of destruction.
History winding back upon itself.

Waves of an army march this way in unison, Suffering and corruption are its battle cries.
For I have known this darkness
and felt its embrace once before-
Horror best laid to rest

Yet a Journey must commence

Look for the signs, the keepers of the flame.
They will lead you to war, and perhaps, to victory.

While the fine folks over at HushedCasket have already built a fine summary of happenings to date, it looks like this is just the tip of the iceberg if the "I Love Bees" ARG was any indication of what to expect.

That said, there could very well be a tip-off that comes in the form of an obscure, nearly-hidden detail in any Halo 3 related material (like the brief flash of a URL in a trailer). So, if ARGs are your thing, or you just missed out on I Love Bees, keep your eyes open and be on the lookout for clues!
