Important Announcement About the Podtacular Audio Podcast
This is a hard article to write, but it has to be done. The Podtacular Audio Podcast, started in July 2005, will be retiring in April. The last show will be recorded on April 8th, 2008. No, this is not an April fool's joke. This may be bad news, but I have good news too. Read on for more.
First of all let's calm some fears.
Wait, does this mean podtacular.com, the community, the clans, the review frenzy, the events, the 2008 season, and Pod TV are going away?
NO. In fact, this is the good news. Pod TV will be taking over the podcast feed and putting out new stuff more regularly. Freak in a Box and Cryptoflix need your help to do it though! If you want to help in acting, voice over, guest hosting, editing, recording, or some other way, leave a note in the comments. Pod TV has a lot of cool stuff planned and a schedule all worked out, so it's shaping up quite well.
But why?
JVB is stretched to the max and had to find a way to cut back. He's on like 3 or 4 different podcasts, including his own. I've been talking about doing this for a while now, but some possibilities kept me around to see what happened. Turns out nothing came of them, so it's finally time for me to say my goodbyes. I've been fortunate to be a part of creating an environment that's great for making friends and playing halo... for everyone but me. All the friend requests mess with my head because many of them just want someone "famous" on their friends list. I eventually ignored the whole lot and just isolated myself for this reason. That ain't healthy. I want to play games with friends and be a regular joe. I have other reasons too, such as getting my 2 nights a week back (recording and editing) which I've been putting in for almost 3 years now.
So is the last episode going to be something special?
Yes. We plan on doing a look back and playing a bunch of goodbyes from our friends in the Halo Nation. (If you're a leader in the Halo Nation, please let me know if you want to be a part of this historic episode) We hope to make it something special for all of us for whom the podtacular audio podcast has been a part of our lives over the years.
This, right now, is not the final goodbye quite yet. We do have a few more shows planned, so be sure to listen to the historic final shows of podtacular. I'll still be hanging around podtacular.com in the forums, in fact probably a little more so. We have a tournament season coming up that Dialpex has put a lot of work into, among other things. Stick around and see what podtacular becomes in this transition!

Wow. This was quite a run if
Wow. This was quite a run if I ever saw one. Podtacular is what introduced me to podcasting. Podtacular has a very special place in my heart, and it always will. I will dearly miss you guys. Foo Mo, I hope to keep you on my friends list, but that is up to you.
I cannot express in words what I feel about this announcement. This means so much to me. But I know that it's for the best. And that's all I've ever wanted for this community: the best.
This is my dear goodbye to the audio podcast. I love you guys. I look forward to many more opportunities to get involved with the community; I will still stick around. The awesomeness of Podtacular shall never die!
Goodbye, Podtacular. I will miss you and keep on fraggin' trucks.

ive only been in Podtacular for a couple months and its hard to say it in the only way i can. so long, pwnage, sorry for stretchin yah JVB. and foo mo i sent one of those friends requests, sry.
i hope POD TV will still be podtacularish, maybe even live video callins once in a while, that'd be awesome

You know, I still can't believe we're going through with this. The Podtacular podcast has been a major part of my life for the last 2 years. I don't know how long its going to take me to have Tuesdays off, but it will give me more time with my family, which is always great for me.
I know we still have 3 more shows left, but I will admit to choking up a bit whenever I think about it.
The last show will be a real tough one for us both.

Wha!?...... wow, Halo 3
Wha!?...... wow, Halo 3 hasn't even been out for a year! I blame CoD4 for this.....no, jk. As a listener since around episode 4, this is truly sad. Hopefully, the community will have enough momentum to continue without the Podcast behind it. I for one, still stick around. Why not pass the gauntlet down to someone else as far as the Podcast goes Foo Mo? Not necessarily right away. But maybe in the near future? Either way, thank you Foo Mo and JVB. The Podtacular Podcast has been an awesome experience to listen to and be involved with! I can't calculate the amount of hours I've spend listening to your voices, as creepy as that may sound lol. Fair question. The reason
Fair question. The reason we're not passing it on is because there's no one to pass it on to. There's just no one I trust that would be willing to pick it up. I don't mean I don't trust anyone, but that everyone at the leadership at podtacular is too busy to do it. I would rather it just transition to Pod TV than to take the chance of someone losing interest or not putting forth the effort to make it what it should be or having too much explicit content.

Wow man, honestly I don't
Wow man, honestly I don't know what to say. If I could nominate someone to "Carry the torch" I would, but as you said no one mere mortal soul comes to mind that is truly capable of carrying this heavy task effectively... The only bad thing really is that, Podtac has been so rapid fire with episodes lately, and Audio editing takes alot less work in the long run than full fledged Videos. Also b/c of bandwidth, a 1 hr Podtac show in video form just wouldn't be possible. So even though my faith is in PodTV, it's still not gonna be as many episodes as usual. It's gonna be a tough thing to swallow man, with us not having the show around anymore. I'm very happy to of had those few talks with you, and the many games of Carcassonne. I wish you the best of luck Foo Mo and JVB. Hope you still stick around for many moons to come...

Man, I knew this would
Man, I knew this would happen, but I didn't think it would happen so soon. I'm really sad to see you guys wrap it up this early since Halo 3 is still really new. I've enjoyed every podcast, even the first ones with Spel. I would have liked to at least see the campaign finished and then terminate the podcast, but you guys have done such a great job. Podtacular was the first and really only online community I am a part of and I am glad to be here. I guess it's time to blow out the candles. I hope the podcast will eventually get resurrected and returned to it's full glory.

wow i cant believe that this is ending so soon. well soon for me sense i joined less then a year ago. it makes me sad. and i wish we could keep doing these. oh well i guess the guys over on pod-tv will do a good job with what they plan to do and im preety sure Freak in a Box and the others will keep us entertained.
and alas i never got to fulfill a dream of mine and be on a show but there is still a hope. ;)

I’m glad to hear that the Podtacular community is going to keep on going strong. Doing what you guys have done is no small feat. Coordinating, recording, editing, and being involved in the community is more work than most people think it is.
I think it’s something in the back every indy podcasters mind… knowing when to say when. I empathize with you guys completely. It must be a strange feeling knowing that you’re suddenly going get back a huge chunk of your life each week. Hope I get to see you guys at PAX this year. I’ll buy the first round of beers.

I didn't see this coming either but, I must say, I am not surprised. I personally felt that Podtacular has been on the decline for a while now.
But besides all that I want to THANK YOU foo mo jive for founding this kick ass halo community. Through Podtacular I have meet many close friends. I have learned the in and outs of the Halo Universe thanks to you and JVB. I have had many unforgettable memories. Helping pay for your Xbox 360 still doesn't seem like enough to repay you. I am glad I have gotten the chance to meet you in real life, hopefully we will meet again someday.

Is there really a good word to start off this post... Dam, Wow, OMG, just doesn't show how much i hate to see you guys go. I have only been here since mid November last year but it has been one hell of a ride. I really couldn't believe it when i found out there was an ALL halo podcast. Since I joined i've listened to you guys, and the rest of the community, talk about some of the strangest things including anus armor and green alpacas. I got quite a few laughs out of it all and got laughed at by my friends when i told them that my submission was so long that you guys didn't even read all of it.

wow i hope the last episode is long. Will the web site here still be active, will there still be online matches i've never been on a podtacular match. there should be a huge montage just like the Hollywood Halo guys

You have done a great job Foo Month and JVB. Without Podtacular I would still only have 40 people on my friends list. Now I have to delete people to make room.

I don't know what to say. Podtac was the first podcast I downloaded, the first how I ever guested on, and most importantly the community that gave me their support when my son was born early and passed away.
Hang on, gotta wipe away some wetness from my eye-region...what is this stuff?
Anyway, I can understand you guys being busy and wanting your time back. I've always wondered how Foo Mo and JVB have time to podcast AND have lives. Hehe. I even have to admit that I haven't listened to the show in a while due to being busy. I stayed subscribed, tho.

Wow, just wow. I completely did not expect this, especially this early in the morning. I can understand and respect Foo Mo and JVB's decisions, particularly because I am near the same position. It's just such a shock to see it end. I guess all along I knew it would have to end at some point, just not this soon.
Well thanks for all the great memories. I began listening at Episode 86 with Foo Mo, JVB, BrentGamer, and IndianPrincess. That is such a great episode to be introduced to this awesome community. I will never forget all the memories and the events that have happened. Podtacular has LITERALLY changed my life. I'm not kidding. Before I listened to Podtacular, my friends used to call me "The Kid Who Plays A Lot Of Halo". Now that I have gotten involved in the community, I'm known as "The Halo Freak".

Im very sad to see a podcast
Im very sad to see a podcast that Ive loved for so long die, I knew that, someday it will have to end, but I always shoved it into the back of my mind. Im hopelessly praying that this is some joke, or your minds will change, Podtacular is what made me buy, play, and buy halo again, without you guys I probably wouldnt of made it through middle school.
I hope you guys find some way to get things so they arnt robbing you of your life to much, and you can return. I hope you can return someday.

and will never leave my heart!!! maybe some day i will return to the web site but for now i think im going to lay off from the trucks and the naynays and relax all my muscles to get ready for the pgr(post game report) and still listen to JVB at least.. i will miss you all and maybe some day i will see you all in a match making game.

Sad to hear that, but I can definitely understand your reasons(particularly the friend request thing, sometimes you feel more like a trading card than a person). I've never been terribly active here, or listened to a ton of your podcasts, but I wish you both luck with everything and salute your status as one of the staples of the Halo community...a sad day indeed. I'll keep an eye out for what Pod TV has in store.
I've been with Podtacular
I've been with Podtacular for about a year and a half, and have started to not be as active as I once was, but this comes as a great shock to me. But a BIIIG thanks to FMJ and EVERYONE for making the Podcast last even this long.
It make me quite sad face.
