A written map review of Dmt-Air

----------
Hey guys, I've decided to start doing written reviews for maps in addition to the audio review that myself and Dust Storm do. That way we can review more content that gets released. I'm going to be doing them as either a weekly thing or possibly bi-weekly. So lets get going here

Map: Dmt-Air

This is an interesting level. You play as an elite on a hoverboard who has to race through high charity and board a cruiser. There's no enemies so it's a race against the clock. Initially you pilot the hoverboard along a course then at the end of that (shown in the left screenshot) you take to the air and fly through a series of rings to the ship.
Terrain
Terrain wise there's not too much to complain about. The first set of gates (you can see them in the right screenshot with the green lights) is easy enough, but you need to turn the second you clear otherwise you'll end up too far out and be hard pressed to make the next gate.
Then you come to a tube filled with rotating arms that look like fly swatters. This can be a bit tricky, you just need to manoeuvre it properly and you can come out quite nicely. At the end (left screenshot) those circular things actually rise up and down, so you need to go around them, it's simple enough.
Then you take to the air. The rings again are straightforward, but the the angle at which you leave the second-to-last one leaves you at such a bad angle to the final gate that you might end up missing it and having to circle around. Presents a nice challenge.

Vehicles
The hoverboard has some issues. It's essentially a ghost with a different model tagged to the attributes. The drifting can be an issue, as well as it's sucky ability to go up inclines, which really causes difficulty in the "Tube of Fly-Swatters", as well as the ghost's sluggish turning abilities. In the flying section it handles like a banshee. The camera can sometimes make it look like you're going to go through the ring but you really miss the checkpoint. However it is decently stable, and while in ghost mode going off jumps you can control your attitude with the WASD keys which really helps with landings.

The Word: Get it!
Well it is a decent map but because of some of the aforementioned reasons, mainly the hoverboard issues and some of the gates on the course knock it down. The track itself is fine and presents a nice challenge, but the vehicle needs to be improved a bit. Also it doesn't say what times you need to get to get certain medals. But despite that it's a fun map.
