Week 3 of the Halo 4 Global Championship is live with all new opportunities to place on the leaderboard and win one of the new weekly prizes. This week’s gametype is Rumble Pro and the top 4 performers will advance to the finals at PAX Prime in Seattle. Rumble Pro comes in two flavors: one with all precision starting weapons and one that is BRs only. More information on the gametype specific settings and maps is available in last week’s Halo Bulletin. If you have still not registered, you can still sign-up and compete for one of the coveted finalist positions.

Podtacular 384: Cryptum Discussion

We take a step into the Halo Universe outside the boundaries of the game and explore the first book in the Forerunner trilogy: Cryptum. Authored by Greg Bear, Cryptum dives into the history of the Forerunners, one specifically named Bornstellar. We follow his journey starting from Erde-Tyrene meeting Chakras and Riser, to meeting the Didact, a legendary warrior. Bornstellar’s journey with Chakras, Riser and Didact reveal many mysteries behind the Human/Forerunner war including the disturbing revelations of the Precursors and the Halo rings. This podcast is full of spoilers so if you have not read the book, we urge you to not listen to the podcast after the Halo Bulletin update. For this episode, we are joined by Eric Neustadter (e), Operations Manager for Xbox Live and co-host of Major Nelson Radio, Nevin Douglas (CruelLEGACEY), creator and producer of Playtime Show and co-host of the Waypoint Community Modcast, and Bryan Newman, Owner of B2 Films and HBO community member. Cryptum Discussion Podcast Tonight

Tonight we begin our journey of the Forerunner Trilogy authored by Greg Bear. Cryptum is the first book in the series following a young Forerunner by the name of Bornstellar. Rebelling against his father to become a Builder, he is sent to live with Miners, a lower class on Erde-Tyrene, or Earth. While there, he is convinced by his ancilla to search for ancient Precursor artifacts. His search leads him to stumble across one of the most powerful Forerunners: the Didact. Life as he knew it would never be the same marking the beginnings of what would become his legacy.

For this discussion we are joined by Eric Neustadter (e), Operations Manager for Xbox Live and co-host of Major Nelson Radio, Nevin Douglas (CruelLEGACEY), creator and producer of Playtime Show and co-host of the Waypoint Community Modcast, and Bryan Newman, Owner of B2 Films and HBO lurker. The second week of the Halo 4 Global Championship is here with a new gametype and more changes to win weekly prizes. Rumble Swat is the featured gametype this week as the leaderboard is reset giving four more people the chance to make it to the finals. Three flavors of the gametype will be played on a similar group of maps which can be found in this week’s Matchmaking Update. Spartan Assault Now Available

A couple of days ago, Halo: Spartan Assault was released on Windows 8 and Windows 8 Phone devices. If you’ve got the magic number of seven big ones ($6.99), then go on over and grab the latest Halo experience. The game takes place between Halo 3 and Halo 4 during the start of the Spartan Ops program where you’ll get to play as Commander Sarah Palmer or Spartan Davis. The game is integrated with Halo 4 in the way of earning experience points and unlock-able emblems. Track your progress against your friends with leaderboards and play to earn new achievements. You can purchase it now from the Windows Store.

Podtacular 383: Mann vs. Demon

This week continues a line of Halo news that just keeps rolling in. Halo: Spartan Assault is now available on the Windows 8 App store following the career of Sarah Palmer as a Spartan IV. The Halo 4 Championship Bundle is also being showcased at the Xbox One lounge at San Diego Comic Con in a couple of tournaments throughout the weekend detailed in this week’s Halo Bulletin. In light of Halo being at SDCC, a seven page preview of the Halo Initiation comic from Dark Horse Comics is also available for your reading pleasure. Finally, the topping on this podcast this week is a visit from our affiliates Kritzkast. Both Agro and Ruckeydoo join us to tell us what TF2 is and to show off their knowledge (or lack thereof) of Halo. Enjoy
