Halo: Spartan Assault Announced for Windows 8 Platforms

Some recent news leaked out about a PC Halo title and theories went running wild. Now we can put those theories to rest as today Halo Waypoint officially announced revealing a top-down shooter being made available across all Windows 8 platforms next month.

Available only for Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8, “Halo: Spartan Assault” is a new top-down action shooter that brings a “Halo” video game to touch-based devices for the first time in franchise history. Developed by 343 Industries in conjunction with Vanguard Games, “Halo: Spartan Assault” provides an accessible, pick-up-and-play experience for fans and newcomers alike.

Set between the events of “Halo 3” and “Halo 4,” “Halo: Spartan Assault” is a new chapter of the award-winning “Halo” universe that explores the first missions of the Spartan Ops program and dives deeper into the backstory of Human-Covenant wars. Play through the eyes of either Commander Sarah Palmer or Spartan Davis stationed aboard the UNSC Infinity as they fight never-before-seen battles against Covenant forces.

With rich storytelling, intuitive controls, and best-in-class action, audio and graphics, “Halo: Spartan Assault” brings the epic scale and action of the “Halo” universe to mobile devices through unrivaled action and intensity.

Podtacular 371: Weapon Tuning Complete

For the last two months, Waypoint has been giving us updates in their weekly bulletins on the weapon tuning undergoing for Halo 4, hoping to restore some balance to the weapons in the Halo sandbox. Thanks to the efforts of the community and the feedback 343i has received through their forums, we now have the final set of changes of the weapon tuning. Granted, the actual numbers are not supplied for all the changes, but having a final picture gives us a good picture of what’s to come in the next few days. Waypoint is also holding a community playdate on Monday when the update drops. Enjoy

Podtacular 370: Two Worlds

We are two weeks away from the new weapon balancing being updated across the board for matchmaking. Not too long ago, some community members were flown out to 343 to play test the current implementation and got some good quality feedback for the content of this week’s bulletin. In some other, not specifically Halo news, the official trailer for Destiny was released. It’s a mix of live action and in-engine capture and it is looking really good. Nak3d Eli takes this seat as this week’s co-host to bring you this epic news. Enjoy

Podtacular 367: Same Old Song

Over the last few weeks, 343i has been releasing small updates about the weapon balance tuning and updates to the matchmaking playlists in the Halo bulletins. In this week’s bulletin, another interview was done by yet another visitor and we’ll undoubtedly have more in future bulletins. New Forge maps are slated to be added to matchmaking playlists soon with more information revealed on which maps specifically next week. Unfortunately, Halo 4 is approaching the end of it’s mainstream lifespan and the bulletins hold very little information in them. We’ll begin to branch out into other areas other than just the bulletin starting next week. Enjoy
