Machinima Monday: LINEAGE: Huntress Volume II

Machinima Mondays is back! Well, it never actually went anywhere, but y’know, it’s back! This time with an awesome Halo 5 Machinima called ‘LINEAGE: Huntress Volume II’. This Machinima is the length of a short film, so it’s easy to follow, but also tells an incredible story.

You may notice this is indeed volume 2, well that’s because there’s a prequle simply called Huntress, which can be found on the Ascend Hyperion Channel. I’d recommend watching that before watching ‘LINEAGE: Huntress Volume II’. Anyways, back to the Machinima in question.

The description for ‘LINEAGE: Huntress Volume II’ is as follows:

In the direct sequel to Huntress, Agent 27, Naomi, takes on a journey to rediscover the past she had erased; all while trying to uncover a plot that could spell disaster for the UNSC.

Much like the description above, the Machinima itself is short and sweet. It really is a very well put together Machinima though, so the shortness isn’t too much of a worry. With amazing voice acting, camera work and incredible music, ‘LINEAGE: Huntress Volume II’ really does come together nicely.

One thing that isn’t short is the list of Halo videos on Ascend Hyperion‘s channel. From forge highlights to discussion videos, you’d be seriously missing out by not checking out the array of Halo content on that channel.

Podtacular 747: How Nostalgia Hurts A Franchise (feat. SacredIconHalo)

There’s something that hooks us into a franchise and with one such as Halo, there’s many different facets of the game that get fans to dedicate hours to playing the game or investing time in other areas like the lore. While our nostalgia for a franchise can keep us coming back to it time and time again, it can also turn against us as our innate desire to resist change kicks in and any alteration can come across as encroaching on our experiences. In this episode, we discuss how nostalgia hurts a franchise in this two-part series in collaboration with SacredIconHalo. We are pleased to have their hosts Bryansbane and Jovialjoshy on to share their thoughts and contribute to the discussion. Over on there podcast, you’ll find a discussion on how nostalgia can help a franchise, where our very own Dust Storm joins SacredIconHalo for their latest episode.

Machinima Monday: Operators

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vXiucGWpxCE

It’s time for Machinima Monday! This week doesn’t feature a multi episode Machinima or a 8 season long Machinima. This time, it’s a short but sweet Halo 5 film. ‘Operators’ Really does show that sometimes a standalone film can be just as jam packed with content.

Despite the title saying Halo 5 Short Film, the actual Machinima doesn’t really feature in game content. The Machinima as a whole is made up from CG, which certainly makes it stand out from the usual Machinima expectations.

The description of ‘Operators’ is as follows:

A year and a half in the making, Operators serves to be a short and sweet Machinima about an Army Special Forces unit, that gets paired against a persistent foe; turning their otherwise routine mission, into a chaotic conundrum. Operators utilizes the best that Halo 5 has to offer, in concert with post production special effects, to revive the identity of what a Machinima can truly become.

As mentioned in the description, ‘Operators’ was in the making for a while. A year and a half is a long time for a project, but it clearly worked out in the end. The acting, animation and story telling in ‘Operators’ is absolutely amazing.

BaconMedia, the creator of this video, has uploaded many more Halo Machinimas before and after ‘Operators’. I’d completely recommend checking out more of their videos on their channel, which you can find linked below.

Podtacular 745: The Chuck and Craig Show

The dust has settled on the influx of Halo news from the last week and there’s so many new tidbits of info that came out after the campaign demo, like confirmed split-screen, co-op up to 4 players, and even after the podcast was done, multiplayer was confirmed to be free-to-play! Of course, the community has it’s fair share of complaints and concerns, some more reasonable than others. We discuss the latest community concerns and 343 responses to the overwhelming questions and criticisms. We highly recommend everyone head over to Halo Waypoint and read up on the Infinite Inquiries blog post. Also, joining the repertoire of DJ’s ever growing list of characters, we are happy to have Craig and the aptly-named Chuck (the grunt launched by the brute) as guests on the show.

Podtacular 744: Halo Infinite Campaign Demo Reveal Discussion

The Xbox Games Showcase featured the latest information regarding Halo Infinite including the marketing teaser Become – Step Inside, a campaign demo and a campaign trailer. With the campaign demo, there is a lot to break down including new game play mechanics, weapons, Banished War Chief Escherum, new lore mentions, and an open world concept. Of course, everything we see is subject to change, but it gives us a pretty good idea of what we’ll see come November. It’s awesome to finally start seeing glimpses of what the next Master Chief story will entail.

Machinima Monday: Zombie Matchmaking: The Movie

Machinima Monday is here! What awesome Machinima will be featured this week you ask? Why it’s ‘Zombie Matchmaking: The Movie’. This incredible Machinima movie blends in game footage with live action footage to create a truly unique piece of art.

Like any movie, the information I can give is limited without spoiling it, however I will say if you’re after an emotional, funny and interesting story, this is certainly the Machinima movie to choose.

The description of ‘Zombie Matchmaking: The Movie’ is as follows:

Zombies have spread outside of the Living Dead game mode, and into all of Halo: Reach matchmaking… resulting in: ZOMBIE MATCHMAKING!

This is a redux of a classic machinima series (with permission). My intention with this project was not to copy/paste the series into another “series,” but rather pay homage by creating a condensed “movie.” Please go check out the original series for brilliant story-telling, twists, and fun. A classic blend of live action and Halo: Reach machinima.

*FlushGun created the original series 8 years ago! I used to watch it as a kid and it inspired me to start my own machinima channel KnightmareFilmz! It is an absolute privilege that I got into contact with FlushGun all these years later and now have permission to redux my favorite series of his!

As mentioned above, ‘Zombie Matchmaking: The Movie’ is actually a redux of an older series simply named Zombie Matchmaking. This earlier series can be found here. Whilst the similarities are clear, I’d certainly suggest giving both the redux and the original a watch.

The creator of ‘Zombie Matchmaking: The Movie’ has an insane amount of projects worked on, from 2013 to right now in 2020. The passion from KnightmareFilmz is clear so I’d recommend checking out the channel for more awesome Machinimas.
