Machinima Monday: The Rookies

It’s Monday, which can only mean one thing. Machinima Monday is here once more to highlight incredible fan made Halo Machinima. This week, the feature goes to a series called ‘The Rookies’.

‘The Rookies’ was created by RiftEX2Filmz, of whom have created many more incredible Halo Machinima series. ‘The Rookies’ has episodes 1 to 4 on the above mentioned channel.

The description for the first episode is as follows:

Before the Guardian changed everything during the events of the previous series Rookies (2017) Where was Henry before he caught up with Rift and introduced the Rookies?…

As mentioned in the above description, ‘The Rookies’ is actually a prequel to the series similarly named ‘Rookies’. ‘Rookies’ came out 2 years ago and has 5 episodes in total, so watching that series is recommend for those wanting to understand the full story of the latest Machinima ‘The Rookies’.

Streamer Showcase: Mister Monopoli

Welcome back to the weekend and another streamer showcase. This next streamer should be no stranger to the Halo community, especially if you’ve looked into speedrunning.

Mister Monopoli is well known for his Halo 2 speedruns and even has an achievement named after him in Halo: The Master Chief Collection. You’ll regularly see him attempting new speedrunning tricks and occasionally hopping into multiplayer. Monopoli is one of the longest established speedrunners still in the game and is usually very willing to educate his viewers on the tricks he’s attempting. He has also been a Twitch partner since early 2014.

The Mister Monopoly streams on Twitch almost daily but not to a set schedule. You can subscribe to Mister Monopoly on Twitch and follow him on Twitter and YouTube.

Jesse and Alex join us to talk about the process behind their research for their shows and what it’s like to search for all the nitty, gritty details they manage to dig up and share with the community. Machinima Monday: Matchmaking Series

Simpler were the days of some of the most classic machinima creations and the Matchmaking series was no exception (can you tell we’re on a nostalgia trip at the moment?). Streamer Showcase: TeamRespawnTV

It’s Sunday, the day after Saturday, but it’s still a day that begins with a ‘s’, so we’ll just stick to the weekends since we’ve tried to be more diligent with releasing episodes on Saturdays. Enough of the riffraff, time for the latest streamer showcase.

Team Respawn is a Halo community dedicated to the Halo Wars titles previously co-hosting and co-organizaing the Halo Wars Champions League. Nowadays, they produce Halo Wars 2 content with live streams and uploads featuring game play, lore and analysis and strategy. While they have a small following, they have been affiliated for about two years on Twitch and remain one of the last consistent Halo Wars content creators within the greater Halo community.

The Team Respawn team streams on Twitch currently without a set schedule but at least once a week. You can subscribe to Team Respawn TV on Twitch and follow them on Twitter and YouTube.

It’s been a while since we’ve seen a Community Spotlight and even longer for the last Canon Fodder, but both bring another wonderful curation of creative genius our community has and the announcement of a new Halo novel, Shadows of Reach. We also have Iowa and Nate from the Project Autumn team on the show to introduce us to their fan games and tell us more about what they’re working on. Wrapping up the show is another community poll, this time UNSC vehicles.

Machinima Monday: The Forgotten Spartans

It’s Monday, which means another Machinima to feature here on the blog. We like to dig into the vault every now and then to showcase some old and classic Halo film-making. This is the full-length film of Thake Films’ The Forgotten Spartans series released over six years coming to it’s conclusion in 2013.

Playing off the end of Halo 3, this Machinima ties in possible continuing stories in the series with some surprise appearances from in-game characters. From the first episode, the synopsis reads:

Six months ago, Spartan Squad Omega were left on a newly discovered Halo Ring. They are searching for a hornet that was left behind, whilst trying to uncover the mystery of their abandonment.

Fair warning, this is two and a half hours long and contains strong language. If you’d like to watch the series in episodic form, you can find the playlist here.
