Voridus has other plans and puts Pavium at risk of completing the salvaging operation. For this show, we discuss the campaign specifically and our impressions after playing.

Podtacular 598: Halo Banter

We ran into a lot of technical issues setting up this recording and because of how late we started, we kept this one short and just talked about the little bit of news from the week and our latest escapades in Halo 5 and Halo Wars 2. The Halo 3 Throwback playlist has been a lot of fun and we’ve begun our play through of the Awakening the Nightmare campaign. The augmented reality Halo Recruit experience was announced by 343 and Microsoft, which will be available at Microsoft Stores and for download on October 17th. The fall season of the North American HCS is heading to DreamHack Denver October 20th as well.

Podtacular 597: Reminiscing Halo 3

It’s been ten years since Halo 3 released and it’s been one heck of a ride since then. In similar fashion to 343 Industries’ live stream taking a look back at some classic Halo moments, Dust Storm and Godzilla T talk about their experiences with the game and involvement with the Halo community around the time of Halo 3’s popularity. There’s a lot about the game and the community at the time to possibly mark this time as the pinnacle of the Halo experience and fan base. When it comes down to it, Halo 3 has a special place in many fans hearts and we’re happy to be celebrating its 10-year anniversary.

Podtacular 596: The Last of the Prelates

We’re finally getting back into the novels of the Halo franchise. Jumping in with a light read, today we take a look at the Joseph Staten novel, Shadow of Intent. The book takes place after the events of Halo 3 telling the story of a Prelate’s search for revenge against Rtas ‘Vadum, the Half-Jaw from Halo 2 and 3. The story stems from the floods’ infection of High Charity and the Prelate allies with a prophet whose plan for helping the Prelate goes far beyond revenge against one Sangheili.

Halo: Community Update – Deluge Delights

The gate has been unlatched and headstones pushed aside as this past week the Flood made their triumphant return to Halo. In Halo Wars 2: Awakening the Nightmare, players immerse themselves in the struggle of two Brute brothers, Voridus and Pavium, as they resist the tempestuous outbreak of the Flood freed from the fallen High Charity. If you’re a newcomer to the Halo Wars 2 experience, a complete version of the title with all post-launch content was released, and you can purchase this edition for only $59.99 here. Stepping aside from the nightmarish news, a triumphant milestone was celebrated this past Monday as Halo 3 turned 10 years old. Iconic Mountain Dew cans were opened, and speed-runs were enjoyed, as fans all over the world finished the fight one more time. Halo 3 is currently available via backwards compatibility (along with Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary, Halo 3: ODST, and Halo 4) but if you’re interested in something different, Halo 5: Guardians now has a classic playlist themed after the game. There’s plenty of creative ways to celebrate this monumental occasion, and to cheer on a game that completely changed the culture and landscape of gaming.

That is only a drop in the water of the events covered in this community update, including a cinematic anniversary video for Halo 3 made by talented fans, and some lore clarifications for those that have played Awakening the Nightmare. It’s all available on HaloWaypoint.com.

Podtacular 595: Tune Time

Halo 5: Guardians has been out for almost two years now and it’s had a few major and minor tweaks over its lifespan. 343 is now testing a few other changes in the wild to make some weapons and power-ups more effective and adjust to their desired role in the game to create a better sandbox experience. For this show, we try to interpret some of the vague descriptions and our opinions on the coming changes. The changes seem to be more of a nerf in performance to withhold some of the undesired effectiveness of the weapons being tested, but they’re giving us a chance to test out the changes and gather valuable community feedback via matchmaking. Through October 2nd, the Weapon Tuning Test playlist will feature these weapons before they are pulled for final review and pushed later this November with the 4K update.
