Halo Wars 2: Awakening the Nightmare Announced; Heralds the Return of the Flood

Halo has always had a presence at Microsoft’s annual E3 conference, and this year, that tradition has not been broken with the announcement of Halo Wars 2’s latest expansion: Awakening the Nightmare. Officially revealed on the Xbox after-show, the downloadable content will bring about the return of a fan-favourite enemy, the Flood, and focus on the Banished and their crusade against the nightmarish parasites. Another feature coming with this DLC expansion is Terminus Firefight, a new cooperative mode focusing on defense from hordes of enemy forces. Halo: Community Update – Big Team Bonanza

The Halo Community Update returns with a heaping of news for both Halo Wars 2 and Halo 5 fans alike. On the Halo Wars 2 front, the hunter leader Colony has been released for public consumption, and with it comes a ton of fixes on the bug front for the RTS. It has been again confirmed that five more leaders will be delivered as part of the season pass plan, with two new Campaign missions as well. On the Halo 5 front, Big Team Battle has seen another refresh, this time bringing with it the Assault game-mode and five brand new Forge-made maps. The full list of changes on the map front can be seen following the link below. On some of the smaller, but still extensively important news, comments made recently by Frank O’Connor and Kiki Wolfkill assure fans that the focus of the next Halo will be on the Master Chief, a reassurance to many. Halo Wars: DE is also now available on Steam for $19.99, a mark of Halo’s return to the platform.
