Halo: Community Update – Blitz 101

Another week passes and yet another community update has been published. Halo Wars 2 is now nearly ready for public consumption, but if you’re not content with waiting another month, you can try it out now with the card-based Blitz beta. This beta is available on both Xbox and PC, and much like the popular Witcher spin-off game, Gwent, it focuses on strategic deck-building and fast-paced battles. Resource gathering and much of the basic pillars of Halo Wars are still present in Blitz, but there are no home-bases, and you must use energy wisely, finding suppliers on the map and through winning. Blitz does feature micro-transactions, but they are not essential to playing the game-mode. In other news, Halo Wars 2 has a new marketing campaign in sponsorship with Twitter, where you and either another player or the AI fight out mini-Blitz games over Twitter’s messaging service.

If you’d like more information on Halo Wars 2, such as new canon surrounding the Banished, or an in-depth guide on how to jump into Blitz, all of that information and more is available on HaloWaypoint.com.

Podtacular 567: Beta Blitz

The Halo Wars 2 Blitz Beta is here, offering another chance to get a taste of the next installment of the Halo franchise and the twist Blitz brings to classic RTS game play. We had a chance to get an early look at Blitz and the card system behind the game mode. It’s fast-paced nature makes it a great candidate for match-made games and thankfully doesn’t entail many woes the community has over Halo 5’s REQ system. We also had time on with the first few missions of the Halo Wars 2 campaign.

Podtacular 566: Incoming Blitz

We have entered the home stretch of the Halo Wars 2 launch with the announcement of the upcoming Blitz multiplayer beta launching on Xbox One and Windows 10 on January 20th. This new game mode takes a twist off of an real-time strategy classic and adds a unique twist to gameplay and strategy with unit cards. While there’s some worry in the Halo community on the likeness to REQ cards from Halo 5: Guardians, this will give us the opportunity to try it for ourselves. Amongst the Halo Wars hype, Halo 5: Guardians continues to get better with community created content, the continuation of the Halo Championship Series and more matchmaking updates.

Halo: Community Update – Ballroom Blitz

February 21st rolls quicker toward us with each passing moment as the first community update of 2017 has been published. For starters, the second official beta for Halo Wars 2, focusing on the all-new Blitz mode, will be launching on the 20th of January, a mere week from now. Blitz, for those that don’t know, is a card-game based mode revolving around set strategies and hasty game-play. It will also be on PC as well as Xbox One, giving PC players their first chance to try out the RTS. Halo Wars 2 is also up for pre-order, and various locations include a host of exclusive bonuses, such as GameStop’s pin collection and the Australia-exclusive steelbook.

Project Haggar was also leaked recently, a Mega-Bloks styled Halo game that was very much only alive in an experimental stage. Still, the game captured the attention of many, and 343 themselves released a statement on it: “Over the past few days, footage has recently made the rounds of an exploratory Xbox 360 project we worked on several years ago, known as “Haggar.” . . . This is just one example of several similar projects we have evaluated throughout the years – a process that we continue exploring on an ongoing basis.” And, of course, another Halo crate is on the way, this time Banished themed, with a stylish Atriox figure that any brute fan will enjoy.

If you’re interested in reading more, such as an interesting interview with 343’s own Olga Zinoveva, a character producer, you can see the rest at HaloWaypoint.com.
