A Different Kind of League With Rockets

After the recent announcement of Halo partnering with Killer Instinct to bring the Arbiter to Killer Instinct Season 3, Halo invades yet another franchise that just released for Xbox One: Rocket League.  This soccer-meets-driving, sports-action hybrid has been a major hit on the Windows 10 platform and through the ID@Xbox program, co-publisher Panic Button Games has brought this game to Xbox one to include all previously released DLC and two exclusive vehicles: The Armadillo from Gears of War and the HotSticker from Halo.  In the latest issue of Canon Fodder, GrimBrother One gives us a little background from the racing sports league of the future on how this Warthog with Needler thrusters came to be.  There’s lots of other customization exclusive to the Xbox One platform of the game, which you can find out about over on Xbox Wire.  Sadly, both battle-cars aren’t available at first, but it won’t take long for you to quickly unlock these beauties thanks to the folks over at Xbox On from Xbox UK.  You can pick up Rocket League right now from the Xbox Marketplace for 19.99USD.

Besides Forge, one of the most requested features for Halo 5: Guardians has been the addition of more game modes adding to the current four in the game.  With the aptly named Hammer Storm content update for February, we will receive three new game modes including Assault, Grifball and Fiesta Slayer.  Thanks to some clever custom game options, the “ball” mode, which was detailed in last week’s community update, other game modes including Oddball and Ricochet can be created for custom games. Farewell Hoss Sauced

HossSauced-PaxPrime15Two years ago at Pax Prime 2014, I had the honor of meeting Kollin Hoskins, better known as “Hoss Sauced” online.  He had been a fan of the show for a while and started taking an active role in the community earlier in the year.  A couple of week’s after the expo, I asked him to become our community manager, which he happily accepted.  He was a great addition to the team and his participation in the community warranted a more permanent role.

Since joining Podtacular, Hoss has helped bring on Halo personalities to the podcast, reach out and interact with other communities, and run our social media platforms.  Out of all the staff, he had the competitive edge when it came to playing Halo and talking about the professional scene, having competed in previous MLG Halo Circuits.  Hoss was always on the lookout for community feedback and was a voice relayed back to the staff.

As a husband and father, Kollin had to juggle around schedules to fit with attending game nights and making the podcast.  For Pax Prime 2015, he stepped up to the plate and allowed me and Biowolf to spend some nights at his house over the course of the weekend.  Unfortunate for us, obligations and opportunities in life has caused him to step down as our Community Manager.  While we are sad to see him go, we firmly believe in life responsibilities over managing a volunteer position and wish him the best.

Machinima Monday: Crab Spartans Attack

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uCqOOKHKqgk

Take a funny glitch from Halo 5, exploit it for some entertainment and you get this nice piece of work right here.  I guess they didn’t think about what effect crouching would have on weapons down.

Podtacular 526: Flashbacks

Everyone has that classic Halo multiplayer map they love from the past and thanks to Halo 5’s incredible Forge and awesome fans, a lot of these maps are making a comeback!  It’s amazing to see what the community has done in just two short months of having Forge available, and we know this is just the tip of the iceberg.  Some of our favorite custom games are coming back too, with more on the way as new game modes release.  Meanwhile, a few updates have been applied to Halo 5 with changes to REQ costs for some weapons in Warzone and the Blue team color has been modified for more balanced target acquisition for both teams.  As we discuss the Swords of Sanghelios mission, we start to see some changes in thought of the Sangheili, which is nice to see in-game, evolving the story past its predecessors.
