Halo.Bungie.Org’s annual pumpkin carving contest is officially open! Previous entries have been quite remarkable and this year with the release of Halo 5: Guardians mere days before Halloween, the deadline for submissions, there are bound to be some new and even more complex, confounding carvings. If you’ve got mad carving artistic skills, try you hand at the 343 Guilt O’ Lantern contest. For rules and how to submit your entry, head on over to the official contest page on HBO.
Yesterday, 343 Industries made the complete Halo 5: Guardians Soundtrack available for streaming on SoundCloud for a limited time. If you want to keep listening to the music, you can now pre-order your copy of the soundtrack in a variety of different formats. According to Xbox Wire, there will be four different editions:

Last month Defend the House released their best of Halo 3 myths montage. They’re back with another collection from their Halo: Reach myths. If you’ve every wondered about some of the intricate oddities of Reach’s gameplay mechanics and physics, this will provide a good idea of some of the more crazy ones.
Any Halo fans that have been around since the Halo 2 days have fond memories of the Clan system. In line with many other Halo 2-esque things 343 is adding with Halo 5: Guardians, they’ve introduced Spartan Companies. Each company can have up to 100 members and requires four members to become active. Once you’re part of an active company, you’ll receive a complimentary REQ pack with three different REQ cards. Each company also has their own private forums, custom emblem, banner and mottos, and can check the stats of players within the company. You can create or join a company today over on Halo Waypoint. There’s been a slew of news we’ve missed out on the best few weeks including Halo 5 going gold, the official gameplay trailer, achievement list, and much more. After we catch up on the backlog, we dive into our much delayed Halo: Last Light discussion. Last Light tells the story of a Gao Inspector, Veta Lopis sent to investigate mysterious murders in a cave system known for its therapeutic effects and mysteriously miraculous cures on the outer colony planet Gao. The murders seem to coincide with the arrival of a UNSC research, whose secret mission is to locate a Forerunner AI believed to be within the cave system. The UNSC research team is accompanied by Spartan IIs, namely the remaining members of Blue Team and Spartan III. Inspector Lopis is just trying to catch a serial killer, but before long the situation spirals out of control.

In anticipation of Halo 5: Guardians’ release on October 27th, the Minecraft Halo Mash-up pack is getting a nice little update on October 23rd to include new character skins from both Blue Team and Fireteam Osiris. You’ll be able to play as John, Fred, Linda and Kelly from Blue Team or Locke, Vale, Tanaka and Buck from Fireteam Osiris. The update is free to those who have already purchased the pack and is $3.99 for those looking to buy it from the Xbox Marketplace.

Halo has always been known for it’s musical accompaniment, and it sounds like the music in Halo 5 brings back some of those familiar feelings.
