One of the things Halo players have always latched onto is their multiplayer record and being able to dissect every game in detail through full game statistics, medals earned for a particular game, heat maps, match progression and more.  Halo 2 and Halo 3 had private statistics APIs, which some developers were given access to before Halo: Reach was given a public API for use.  Halo 4 lacked any kind of stats API and to the dismay of many players lacked a good interface for finding and exploring these stats.  With Halo 5: Guardians, 343 is giving us back the public API.  It’s currently in private beta testing with some eSports partners and previous statistic app developers like Halo Charts and Halo Tracker, but is expected to be available to everyone close to the game’s launch.  From the Halo Waypoint announcement, the API will support the following:

• Service Record (Life-to-date stats for each player)
• Match History (Access to each match played)
• Carnage Report (Complete statistical breakdown for each player in a match)

It is unknown what specific information will be available from each category, but once the API goes public, we should be seeing more info from 343 and developers on the extent of the API’s support.  Halo Waypoint will still have a fully-featured stats experience in addition to the public stats API.
