What do Halo fans think of XBL Arcade?
I don’t know a lot about Xbox Live Arcade but I do know that I love all of
the Worms games. And lucky for me it came/coming to Xbox Live Arcade and
I’m pumped. This game is one of the few games that I still play on old
consoles and still puts a smile on my face. Worms is just one of those
games that doesn’t get old. Oh and shoutout to JVB’s mom.
Marble Blast Ultra, or MBU as its know, is my favorite arcade title. For
those of you without a 360 allow me to clue you in. MBU is a game where
you race against the clock as a marble, thats right. Your just a little
marble in a great looking 3D world trying to get to the finish line. The
game also features a number of powerups to help you out such as the Super
jump, ultra blast, super speed, Gyrocopter, and the mega marble. I
currently have a score of 1,404,850 and am in 1st on my friends list
leaderboard which I gained without the use of a modded controller. I love
this game for the simplicity and thinking it makes you do to try and think
how you can get to the finish line faster. To anyone else who has it, I
dare you to try to beat my score on Black Diamond which is 31.80 seconds
:)
I’m a fan of the XBLA arcades game variety I like Heavy Weapon, Doom, GeometryWars, and Pac-Man. It has a huge variety of games not just casual ones. The retro games like Classic Doom or Pac-Man really bring back the good times and the automatic leaderboards for every game are nice. I’m kinda happy to see when I get a huge score, and I’m not the one on the top because: I get to see some other players who are better than be so I know the game can be taken to a higher level of play, I guess you could say it’s humbling and makes you want to try harder at the same time just look at the Geometry Wars Leaderboards sometime.
I am a new listener and member I started listing at episode 97 and just
want to say how much I enjoy the podcast. I like the xbla and love the
games on it. My favorites are doom, marble blast ultra and small arms. I
like how the arcade gives a forum for both classic games and small
independent developers. I am exited for castlevainia symphony of the night
and hope other ps1 games might make it to the xbla. I like the concept of
casual gaming but have a few qualms it has the ability to end up costing a
lot of money because it is so easy to buy arcade game after arcade game. I
also fear the possibility of big game developers attempting to replicate
independent companys. I think however the xbla will is great and will
only be better in the future. Keep on Fragging Trucks.
hi podtacular SGO lonewarrior again. some of the better arcade games i have
played are DOOM and uno. i belive that doom is a great alternitive to halo
because it is such a funny game i say this because DOOM is supposed to be
scary how ever it turned out to be like the movie the evil dead II scary
as hell in its time but halrious now because of all it lacks real time
graphics an a funny death for anything you kill (it just falls over back
ward into a plile of red pixles)it is also very easy to own anything. so
after hours of modders standbyers etc. its great to just yell out at a
pink demon “BAABAM! what now you stupid pink peice of s*t”
the other arcade game i like is pretty popular it is uno which is actually
fun and calming because nobdy cares to mod uno right? it also gets feeling
good about your self if you win 2-3 times in a row you will start to feel
happy and relaxed :)
the best part is you can find your self playing with some nice people. the
best part about these games is they only cost like 3 bucks on the market
place so money shouldn’t be a real issue. one finale thing (i know im
dragging on for ever but i think that bungie should make marathon an
arcade game that would be pretty freakin cool)
Sup guys, Recently I have tried playing Alien Hominid which is a pretty
sweet side scrolling game and as for games I’d like to see: Space Harrier.
Not sure if you guys remember this game but this was one of my favorite
arcade games. Quick shoutout to Jesus and Ms. Axattack.
I would like to start off by saying that I just recently started
listening to Podtacular around episode 94 and haven’t missed one since. As
far as the XBLA goes I absolutely love the concpet and I am really looking
forward to up and coming developers being able to make names for
themselves through the arcade. Just look at alien hominid, a great flash
game turned into and even greater arcade game, and really putting them on
the map. Having also downloaded clasic games as well, I love being able to
play the older games I once enjoyed so much with the added ability of XBL
and all the other features the 360 has to offer, such as music
functionality and private chats. Games like DOOM and Street Fighter are
given so much more depth being available on XBL and being able to play
with friends at any time in multiplayer, or in DOOM’s case, co-op. Anyway,
I’m really looking forward to what other games will soon be available on
the XBLA, and hopefully one of my all time favorites, Golden Axe, will
soon be available as well. Keep up the great work!
Hey guys its Austindud518 (thats right, no e). I only have an xbox 1 so i
am stuff with a cheesy old XBLA, but i’m guessing that the games are the
same. I think it would be cool if they had more strategy games. They could
aslo have gamemaker(one word), it’s a program that is easy to use, and
guess what… It makes orange juice! Uh, I mean games. When you creat a
game, you can make a 2d game, or a 3d game. I have created 1 halo 2d game,
and one 3d game. People could post all their best work on XBLA to see if
anyone would like to play it. Well thats it for now, keep on fragging
trucks (by the way, FRAGGING means that a low ranking soldier, like a
private, kills a higher ranking soldier, like a sarge).
Right now, my favorite XBLA game would have to be Marble Blast Ultra! I
beat two difficulties in about an hour! It’s an awesome game. But,
Paperboy is in the running, along with Pac-Man and Galaga.
Now, on the whole subject of “Arcade” games, I personally think that
Nintendo is doing the best because, obviously, they have a TON of stuff to
go off of. I mean, this is basically nintendo’s first Nex-Gen system, after Gamecube at least, which WAS next-gen, because it
was the first in 3-D. And they have been in the video game buisness since
it all began. Before Xbox and Playstation even existed. So, they have a
TON of arcade games to put on the market and for “Arcade” games, I think
that they’re doing soo much better than the others because they have so
many games to go off of. So, here are the grades I give to each system for
arcade games.
360: B-
Wii: A+
PS3: Out of the question
my favorite XBLA game is UNO! its a fun game where u can just sittin done
by you selve or with 3 of ur friends and play. And, if your a guy that
just love to get achievements, you can easily get 100 achievement points
in one day.
A game i most likely want 2 be a part of XBLA is Rampage. Its a game where
u get to tear through famous countries such as china and cities such as
hollywood. Its a fun sidescroller that alot of people would enjoy.
I really love the arcade. I think it is a great way to play games without
having to spend $60. You just pay a small amount, and then you have a
little game that you can play for a while, and then go back to doing
whatever. For those who just got a 360, or Xbox Live, here’s what you need
to get:
Marble Blast Ultra
Uno
Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved
Once you have those, you’ll be set.
my favorite and only game i pretty much have from the xbox live arcade is
DOOM. yes the classic duke nukem pc game. it’s all about the shotgun,
rockets, BFG9000, chain gun and the chainsaw. graphics aren’t that great
and the aimer is weird compared to halo. you just really point gun to
enemy and shoot.storyline is long and you want to make sure that you save
it sometime…because you really can’t just walk through the levels unless
you’re know what you doing. most of you guys may have done DOOM 95 which
covers only one chapter. this covers about the whole four chapters which
is really cool.
i would like to see more people online with this classic game and the
achievements make me look like a pro old school gamer. really really fun
and very interesting for some reason…not sure why just is.
later guys… keep on fragin’ trucks.
What’s up Podtacular and Co. Ive got plenty of games I want to see on XBLA
but i’ll spare you my grocery list and just name a few. The one classic
game I really want to see on XBLA is Metal Slug (For those of you who dont
have a degree in game-history, it’s a side scrolling 2-d shooter that has
an insane-0 difficulty level). Other than that, Bizarre needs to get on
Geometry Wars 3 right now or else shakes fist at screen.
On another note, I think Golden Eye would not make a good arcade
game. After games like Halo Golden Eye is like looking at a Victoria’s
Secret calendar if the models were all Richard Simmons and Elton John
wearing pink tube-tops.
I just want to say great job on the podcast.
Long time listener, first time writing in.
I would like to see the simpsons, x-men and the avengers games on xbla.
Those were some of the best 4 player games. I heard that Tmnt is comming,
so these titles should be able to get ported over. Co-op over xbox live
would be great with achivements.
For people deciding on what xbla games to get, they need to get uno and
cloning clyde first. Those are great games.
I think casual gaming is a great way for non gamers to start gaming, and
also casual games are awsome for sleep overs and parties, and ussually
allow a lot of multiplayer and just plain fun, I myself started out as a
casual gamer at the age of 5, and have in my 8 years of gaming evolved
into a hardcore gamer, Casual Gaming is a kind of Gateway “drug” into the
world of gaming.
What’s up guys? I am a new member of Podtacular, but I have been listening
for a while. My favorite game on XBox Live Arcade right now has to be
either Geometry Wars, Marble Blast Ultra, or Assault Heroes. They are
freakin’sweet! Well, keep up the good work guys, and keep on fraggin’
Cock-a-doodle noobs. See Ya!
I want to see the X-Men arcade game in XBLA. The one with four players
that was only in the arcade. You could be Wolverine, Colosus, Dazzler,
Nightcrawler, and Storm. It was awesome!
I’m also looking forward to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles arecade game
to hit.
Oh, and Worms sucks! The last good thing that hit the arcade was Assault
Heroes.
xbox live arcade is a great function on the 360! one of my favorites has to
be alien hominid HD, its a hard as hell side scroll game. your basically an
alien that crashed on earth and the government is after you. its really
funny and one of the first xbla games to have gore in it. theres a certain
move where you tap A to jump then you tap A again when your over the FBI
agents head and you land on it, then you quickly tap X and you bite his
head off, its really funny. the games bosses are very unique. well i hope
you liked my message, keep on fraggin trucks, and bangin ducks
what xbla needs is more new titles, old titles can be fun aka doom.
there are some games i would love to see on XBLA such as monopoly, some of
the older starwars games such as rouge squadron really good games.
anyways i wondered what you guys would like to see on XBLA
Personally, I’d like to see TWO arcade games:
1) Smear the Queer:
Think of the possibilities!!! You could arm your bad self with some
awesome whipped cream, or chocolate sauce. AND START SMEARIN’!!! You could
choose who you play as, and who you smear. Image: Arnold Swartzinegar
smearing Michael Jackson up, YOU COULD HAVE NIGHTMARES FOR WEEKS!!! If
Microsoft is listening, MAKE THIS GAME.
2) Brentastic toilet sitting:
In this amazingly innovative game, you play as Brent Gamer. You sit down
on your “thrown”, and simply think. The array of ideas that the developers
with put into this game will blow EVERYBODY away, every time you play,
you’ll think of new things! The developers could even post MORE ideas and
you could download them through the Xbox Live Marketplace! They could also
have exclusive ideas ONLY for Podtacular members. Like Brentopia =D
I hope that you guys are as excited as I am.
I’d like to see the 2d Halo game that was made. Or something like Pong.
That’d be awesome-o. Thanks Podtacular.
A game I would want to have on the marketplace is Vigilante 8 from N64
SHOUTOUTS
Until next time I’m Foo Mo Jive (and this is)
