TO COVER
Wow a lot of videos surfaced in so little time.
The Forge Video is great. It shows so much about what you can do. We
learned that the monitor can be killed, that you can pickup and drag
things not just make them appear/disappear. My favorite part of the video
was where he showed that the monitor can become a bomber by dropping fusion
cores from above onto unsuspecting enemies AND IT COUNTS AS A KILL.
Guardian looks AMAZING. Not only is it bigger and better than lockout, it
has more weapons. Gone is sword whoring as the map also contains a Brute
Hammer, a flame thrower, and a bunch of Maulers. One thing I did notice
that does concern me. The setting was total camo for active camo and the
player was almost totally invisible. Not only that but the SWORD was
invisible. Go Ninja go ninja go!
I love the new Live action short. Not only does it have real action, but
there are full CGI Brutes! And they look AWESOME. So do the Banshees and
the spikers (you could see them sticking to walls if you looked close
enough.) The only thing I didn’t like was that the ODST’s had spartan
helmets instead of the ODST helmets. Other than that it was amazing.
only a few more weeks until we are all bathed in the glorious wonder that
is Halo 3.
Quick shout out to all the Review Frenzy members for their dedication and
especially to Capn Krunk for all he has done to help me and the rest of
the Crew out. Thanks man!
Wow all this stuff is awesome. I wish I could discuss it with you guys on
the show ;)
Forge looks amazing, and with the added ability to make walls I’ll be able
to make some pretty cool structures. Maybe not the Hogwarts I wanted when I
was reading the last Harry Potter book, but mazes and labyrinths don’t look
too farfetched.
Guardian looks like a lot more open Lockout, from the videos I would
assume thats the original weapon set; which is pretty beastly. A fuel rod
cannon, a spartan laser, a flare equipment and the gravity hammer could
make for some great games.
Sandtrap is probably one of the biggest maps I’ve ever seen. Period.
Watching the hornet being piloted on the map reminded me of Battlefield 2
because of sheer size and scale of Sandtrap.
Narrows looks good. It oddly gave me thoughts of Ascension, because it has
one vehicle (a Mongoose insted of a Banshee), an air lift (replaced with
mancannons), shotguns and the assortment.
Halo Wars looks great and amazing and I can’t wait to see how it’ll play
out in 2008. Hopefully the controls will be done well as Ensemble Studios
have been working on getting them right for a while. I mean, what RTS game
will your AI command other AI to actually start doing pushups? xD
The Scarab was modeled after the Halo 3 version, and its AI makes it look
like a living, breathing device of the Covenant. Talking with Killazilla,
it actually starts whimpering after its hit with a huge air strike, before
falling to its knees with a fatal attack.
Thanks guys for reading this out, keep on lieking mudkips.
I recently got done watching the gameplay video of Guardian from PAX and I
have to say… those guys sucked! But seriously; I love the map layout. It
seems bigger than lockout does, but it does a better job of concealing the
inhabitants IMO. At first I though “Wow that map has way too many power
weapons”, but I heard Bungie used Forge to purposely set up the map that
way. I look forward to pwning noobs on this great looking map.
When watching the demo of halo wars today I herd the narrator talk about
making your own buildings, i’m not sure if he meant customizing them
yourself or building them like any other rts. Like any other rts, halo
wars has to be balanced as they showed in the demo, which they are doing a
great job at. is there a possibility that there might be brutes in halo
wars?
In the forge tutorial, I noticed that as an editor you could make cover
and platforms for the players on the map, which would serve as a great
custom game. Also explained in the video was user generated maps, (such as
custom games) that bungie would put in matchmaking, how will this affect
the matchmaking experience if it starts to take away from custom games.
Hey FooMoo and JVB and whoever the special guest is this week!! Im kinda
new to the whole podtacuar and this is the first time im actually sending
in stuff so yeeahh! but i gota say i love the show and i think you guys
are hilarious! Halo3 looks soo sweet and i pre-ordered it a while back, i
try to keep up on all the stuff and podtacualr is a great way to do it!
first off, Forge looks awesome!
FROGe- I cant wait to play with it, the vid really brought out the feels
of it, and im sure it will work fine or bungie wouldnt have put it in the
final game. I just assumed that if you were playing as the monitor that
you wouldn’t die, but now that you can, it gives forge a whole new level
of depth because now, you have to be aware of your own life as well as the
team you are on, i think it should be very interesting.
LONg and LEAn (narrows)- The videos of Long and Lean looked awesome, that
is goin to be on eof my favorite levels i think, i love short range
combat. and i think it has a good mix of long range as well, it should
paly very well. This is my favorite vid because its like they are playing
one on one, and i love the crowd cheering for them, it brings back fond
memories of bxr’ing ppl 1v1 on lockout at lan-parties and everyone is
watching and its all tense and stuff!
Guardian- Guardian wasnt what i espected, i was thnking of a lighter more
exuberant map, but i kind of like the darker shadowy feel to it, i dont
knwo if it will be such a big hit as the original lockout but definataly a
fun play. Just a little side note, i love the announcer guy, he’s really
funny! I like the player would have done much better if his look
senseiveity wasnt up so high, oh well.
Well I dont want to take up too much of your time! hope you guys are doing
great and again, great job on the podcast!
Hey Podtacular this is Daboog and let me say WOWIE!!!
If you noticed on the Guardian level the sword turned invisible when the
guy did and that when he tried to hit the other guy with the sword it was
slower.
Also on the Guardian level that anouncer could get annoying and the flame
thrower looked really cool.
I can’t wait to get my hands on the forge that magic carpit thing looked
like so much fun.
One other thing I can’t wait to get my hands on is the hornet that thing
looked AWESOME!!!!!!
well thats all I have to say Keep on deploying the bubble shields with the
X button.
Whats up guys! All of the new vids make it even harder to wait until the
25th! Forge looks amazing and will ensure no two custom games will ever be
the same. All of the naysayers that didn’t think Halo 3’s graphics would be
a large improvement over Halo 2 should watch the Guardian and Sandtrap
footage. The video isn’t the best quality but you can definitely tell
there is a major improvement. Thanks guys, see you on Halo 3!
I remember back when we only heard something about Halo 3 every 3 to 6
months. Now something new comes out almost every day. I surprised my head
hasn’t exploded from the awesomeness that is Halo. Now on to business.
Forge looks great at first I had my doubts on how well it would integrate
multiplayer. It looks like forge will keep Halo 3 going for a long time.
Halo fans have been innovative with Halo 2 custom games I can’t wait to
see what kind of custom game types people will come up with using forge.
The multiplayer footage of Guardian was cool but, the guys showing it off
sucked but it boast my self esteem seeing how bad they were.
The new halo live action short was much better than the last one. People
are saying how cool the brutes were but, I want to see grunts running
around grunts are much cooler than brutes any way.I hope in future short
films they show a larger variety of vehicles like the scorpion tank, brute
chopper, and ghost. I have been pondering if they will put key characters
from halo like Sargent Johnson or the big MC. Lastly I recently bought a case of gamer fuel and it tasted ok and I
noticed it looked pretty similar to the new fire grenade in Halo 3 so I
held a flame to the gamer fuel and it caught fire. Confirmed the fire
grenade in Halo 3 are exploding cans of gamer fuel.
The video that got me most interested was the one about Forge. I am super
excited to play this with 7 friends! Being able to place anything (with
some limits) on a map WHILE PLAYING is freaking amazing. I never expected
that. I do believe I heard on the video that it was only kept score for
slayer games, but maybe it was just the way he said it. We can only wait
and see.
Another thing Ive been noticing is a lot of people think Gaurdian is the
remake of Lockout. I think the video proves its not the remake, but rather
the “spiritual successor”, as Bungie said, sort of like Valhalla is the
“spiritual successor” to Coagulation. I would assume this means no Lockout
remake, which sucks in the sense we can’t play it (for now at least) in all
its High Def glory, but its nice because I’d personally rather play new
maps that may feel like a favorite, but at least looks different.
I’ve looked at all the videos and here is what I got to say. The gravity
hammers is sick since it can badly hurt you in one swing. The fire bomb is
also cool since if you walk in to it, it hurts you. The Flamethrower can
kill you after a few seconds I think and your body is on fire for about a
second after you die. The flare is so cool since anyone in the area or
room it is at is blinded for a short time so you better turn around so you
won’t see white. I think the hornet will do nicely in multiplayer since
it will even out with the banshee. The halo short film looks sick since
there’s three marries getting a package, killing some brutes, and
driving a hog which would be sick to drive in real life. Lastly a the end
of the campaign footage you can see to Master chiefs left a pelican on the
ground, this gives me the idea that your going to fly it most likely. Well
that all CYA.
