Halo 4 Launch Gameplay Trailer
Big Team Infinity Slayer on Vortex
Hey Podtac, enjoying the show. Halo 4 is so close I can taste it, and the podcast is helping keep me occupied during the wait. I also like how you guys are breaking down each episode of FUD. I'm looking forward to seeing how the series plays out. There's something small I noticed: If you listen closely to the scene in episode 3 where Lasky gets the papers about is allergies, you can hear the "To Galaxy" melody playing in the background. That makes me wonder if other songs from the Halo 4 OST will be in FUD. Anyway, keep up the good work and keep on fraggin' those mechs.
Hi, I'm new to the games, and halo media stuff, but I've been reading the books since the beginning. I'm actually finally getting an xbox with this release so I can play through the games and fill in the plot lines..
I've got some comments about your podcasts.
FUD3:
In Thursday War , Karen Traviss introduces us to Lasky and we get the chance to understand his place on Infinity. It's cool in FUD to see that Lasky is a strategist not a shooter, so it's natural that he's adopted by Parangosky in ONI. This is demonstrated through all the imagery of chess, his checkmate against his "perfect soldier brother" and his tactics when he was fighting in the final training exercise of the semester. In FUD we get to see how Lasky feels about killing and war and that he understands the gravity of war. On that note, the last video we see of Cadmon helps us to understand why Lasky feels the way he really does about war. He's been exposed to what it's really like through his brother, such that he, more than the other cadets realizes that when war can be avoided it should be. That's what's he's been trying to tell his class mates the whole time.
Also, Spartan 104, as seen in the secret ONI video is Fred, not John.
Also, I think FUD is a cool bridge for us to understand how Lasky and Infinity (Since, as an older man, post Covenant War, Lasky is 2nd in command of Infinity) end up barreling through space to find Reguiem in the first place. It was Cortana's SOS that brought them after FUD to the location of Requiem. Infinity is capable of pin point slipspace jumps, so it's reasonable that they could catch up to Chief very quickly..
Because MC saved Lasky at the beginning of the convenant war and was missed by all when he was proclaimed MIA, it's no wonder Lasky responded the way he did when he got Cortana's SOS. It explains why he would flashback to this whole memory that we're watching in FUD.
Also, why was Lasky awake when the SOS came in? Perhaps his allergy and the focus on it in the FUD series is a way of explaining why it was Lasky, not West (the No 1 in command of Infinity) that recieved the transmission. He was awake, and not sleeping in cryo like the rest, because he can't undergo Cryo. So he stayed in the UNSC and just stays awake during long slipspace jumps. It's also another reason to promote him to an officer and train him. Because he can make decisions during slipspace jumps.
This may also explain how he could be available to change destinations during the jump and go to meet MC at the coordinates broadcast by the SOS. So maybe we'll see that the whole ship is actually still in Cryo sleep as it arrives at and crashes onto Reguiem.
Thus, I wouldn't be surprised if, in the episode 5 of FUD we see Infinity change course due to Lasky's intervention, and travel to Requiem. This could then be the point at which FUD ties into Halo4 after Chief has landed on the planet. (We see Infinity crash onto Requiem in the previews and making of Halo 4)
Also in regards to Cortana's red self... I've read all over the place over the last year that she's capable of creating copies of herself. This is hinted at by BB, the super-AI in Thursday War, as he tells Halsey that it was how new AI's were created. Halsey doesn't say anything to him, and BB thinks he's being all smart and deceitful by saying it because he doesn't think it's possible.. but it could be that Cortana is actually creating copies as a way of dealing with any extra rampancy that she's experienced. In Halo evolutions she's also dealt with the Gravemind and created pseudo clones as a way of protecting her self.... so... maybe that's what we're seeing here. The birth of a copy of herself..
Also, go back to 12:00 mark in FUD part 1. General black is assigning lookouts and he looks at the sky with his cigar. Maybe he knew the covenant was out there and was wondering when they would come...
One last thing.. It was during the Insurrectionist War with that the covenant showed up, so this is a neat way to understand what the covenant war was really like for those who fought it. This is important in understanding how the characters will behave after the war... It helps us understand the motives and actions of those possibly in Halo 4 the Kilo-5 team too..
You've totally got to read Cryptum, Glasslands, and Thursday War. So much of the little stuff from FUD can be explained by reading those books!
Have a great day.

(RidgebackTTF) Not my Gamer tag yet, but if it's available when I get my console, that's what I'll be.
Just got done listening to your latest podcast about Halo 4: FUD episode 3. At the end of the episode you guys were talking about Dimah and if she knew about the Covy, which I don't believe she did. I'm SHOCKED no one brought up the fact that she is DEAD now. The Covy blew up the space tether after Dimah and the others took the elevator up. At the very end of episode 3, you can hear people screaming and see them falling out of the sky! Dimah of course would be one of those people. I don't know if you all just missed this but I thought it was one of the best moments of the episode. It puts an extra emphasis on just how violent and destructive the Covy are. Just wanted to throw that at you guys and get your opinion. Love the podcast and ecstatic for Halo 4! Keep on fraggin' trucks.
