Hey guys! In regards to the question of the week, i think the answer, for me personally, is an easy one.
I think the mythic map pack for Halo 3 was the all around best map pack. Not only was it an all round great bang-for-your-buck deal, it had some of the most iconic maps, in my opinion. Featuring Assembly (personal all around favorite for pretty much any gametype), Citadel, Heretic, Longshore, Orbital and of course, the great Sandbox.
Anyways that is my personal favorite Halo map pack to date, and i would like to say keep up the good work.
For this weeks question, I would have to say my favorite map from a map pack is from the original 9 DLC maps in Halo 2. The only map that I didnt like was Elongation (I actually liked Backwash for some custom games). But my favorites from the DLC would be Turf, Gemini, Terminal and Sanctuary.
Hey Podtacular, I'm answering your question of the week about our favourite DLC maps.
Mine would have to be Avalanche from the Halo 3 Legendary Map Pack. I'm aware that Avalanche is a remake of the popular Halo CE map, Sidewinder. But because XBOX Live wasn't around at the time I never got to play much CE multiplayer and never got to experience this map. Avalanche is definitely a dream map for anyone that loves big team. It was one of the rare maps that had the Hornet on it and when you add in Banshees, Choppers, Tanks and Wraiths, absolute chaos ensued. But there were enough Spartan Lasers, Rockets and Turrets placed around the map that I never felt it was overly unfair to the on foot players. Not only is the map fun to play, it was also gorgeous to look at with the snowed cliffs and forerunner installations. Everything about this map brings back great memories of fun times in Halo 3, making it my favourite DLC map.
Thanks Podtacular and keep up the good work.
I loved Halo 2's Sanctuary. It may be because I've traditionally been a competitive player, and enjoyed its inclusion into the MLG circuit, but I also liked the flexibility of the map and how smoothly the game play flowed. The scenery was also a nice touch, adding a sharp contrast to the bloody mayhem of multiplayer with its serenity. Sanctuary was easily my favorite DLC map of all time, but Halo 2's Terminal and Relic were close runner ups.
My favorite DLC is Halo 3's Heroic Map Pack. It came out right when I got into Halo 3 so I have some fond memories with it. Foundry spawned many great customs such as Saw, Toilet, Ice Cream Man, Cops and Crooks, etc. Standoff was my favorite all-time map for a while. The symmetry and two bases provided great team battles and there was cool scenery like giant satellite dishes in the distance. Jenga was also fun. Rat's Nest was another good team-based map. Good times.
The question of most favorite: while I never can decide on what my favorite map is, I'm going with Sandbox. I go on to Halo 3 from time to time and I still love every moment. It was the best forge map in Halo 3 next to Foundry at the time.
