n00b tips

if you are stuck with a plasma grenade you should fire randomly while screaming for the amusement of all those around you.

Sixtyeights PERFECT SLAYER STRATEGY!!
If you want to win at team slayer, you can! And it’s easy!!! There’s only a couple easy steps to follow:

1 – Kill the other team. (this is VERY important)

2 – if you have more kills than the other team, YOU WIN!

when you see a person behind you on your radar, instead of turning around (by then you will be almost dead) jump backwards and put them in the position you were. It has saved me multiple times.

General Tips

Sword Cancel: R+X
This maneuver can only be done by sword. With the reticle red, press R and X at the same time and it will appear as if you are about to kill the enemy, but you will not, you will just lunge at them. This is a common maneuver when glitching and getting on top of/out of maps and towers that are usually impossible to get with the regular jump.

Quick Reload: X,Y,Y or X,B
After a certain time in a reload animation, the weapon is reloaded, pressing Y,Y, enables you to fire again. This also works to cancel out the swords ‘reload time’ since there is a period of waiting after a swordlunge. If you don’t have a secondary weapon (Y,Y is switch back and forth), then press X and after the weapon is reloaded press B to melee.

Cancel Reload: Y,Y
During reload you might decide to want to open fire again, press Y,Y before the weapon has reloaded and you can continue fire with the ammo left.

Double Melee: B,X,B
As soon as your melee has hit your opponent and the damage is done, you can cancel the rest of the animation with X and melee again.

Switch Melee: B,Y,B
As soon as your melee has hit your opponent and the damage is done, you can switch to your other weapon with Y and melee with that weapon again.

Melee Fire (AKA: BxR): B,X,R
As soon as your melee has hit your opponent and the damage is done, you can cancel the rest of the animation with X and open fire again. If done optimal it will seem like a melee and shot at the same time. To be done with a full clip. If performed correctly with a battle rifle, it will result as an instant kill.

Melee Snipe: B,X,R
This trick is ment to use your melee lunge as an auto-aim for your sniper in order to succesfully no-scope. Works the same way as Melee Fire, but try to press X before hitting your opponent, because then you still have the full use of the lunge.

Melee Stuck: B,X,L
When you lunge towards an opponent for the melee you can cancel the full animation in order to use the lunge towards your enemy to get a plasma grenade attached. Works best when the melee has not hit yet, since then you are still moving towards him. Just make sure you back off fast so you don’t kill yourself

Double Nade: Charge, R, pause,L,L
When you release a plasma bolt after the pistol is charged or when another plasma weapon has overheated (Beam Rifle, Plasma Rifle) wait one second and press L,L in order to through two grenades rapidly after eachother. With the right timing you can throw them almost at the same time. You can also set traps with this, deliberately missing a plasma shot, then surprising your opponents with a rain of grenades. You can switch back to your battle rifle, but only after the first nade is thrown.

Dual Nade: L,Y,B,L (On-host)
Not to be confused, but do to be combined with the Double Nade. The Dual nade is an entirely different trick that uses the picking up and dropping of dual wieldable weapons to cancel the time intersection between two grenade throws. Basically you stand on a dual wieldable weapon, holding a dual wieldable weapon, then press L to throw your first grenade, hold Y to pick up the dual wieldable weapon, B to melee and throw the weapon away and L to grenade again. With boxer settings the sequel would be L,Y,L.
Note – This trick can also be used in combination with the Double Nade, using the plasma pistol as the first dual wieldable weapon for a deathtrap of three grenades.

Double Fire: R,R,X
The hardest one of all; quickly press R, then as soon as you have your R unreleased again, quickly squeeze it again and this time hold, quickly after the controller has registered the start of the holding press X in order two have the two shots burst out at the same time or rapidly following eachother. Timing is crucial, there is about 1/10th of a second to do so and within that second pace of the shots is also determined. You will know its succesfull when you see no reloading animation, but have a full clip again with 6 bullets less. You can also cancel the actual reloading by the Cancel Reload, but more usefull is to Doublefire and then instantly throw a grenade to cancel the reloading, this also seems to be the quickest way to get damage across a map.

In any setting that involves sniping many targets, I find it beneficial that instead of just sniping a target in the head or wasting 2 shots on the body, I just shoot them in the body, then finish my target off with a quick BR switch. I find this to help alot on Coagulation because you need alot of ammo and dont want to have to walk back to get more.

I have a very tight group of players that I “roll” with. Over the past year of playing, we have devolped a “code” that we talk in. For instance, “twenty-three, nine-teen” (note the halo 1 maw referance) means that a sniper is in the tower. Not only does it let us keep the enemy clueless, it allows us to confuse them. When I know that an enemy is nearby that can hear me, I say “Hey Guys”; this is my teams clue that what i am about to say is only to confuse the enemy, then i would say something like “yea rush the sides and Ill take the back”. Developing a working code has completely changed the way I play halo. Try doing this.

Many people will use a shotgun above anything else besides a sniper or rockets. However, the BR is usually a better option. The shotgun’s damage is unrealistic, and you almost have to stick the shotgun in the enemy’s mouth to get a kill. The BR on the other hand, always kills in 4 bursts if you know how to use it. A BR can be used to take out a sniper by making him unzoom, to kill other midrangers, and can usually kill a shotgun if the enemy doesn’t surprise you by too much. I’ve seen many people get owned because they charge someone with only a SMG when they could have picked up a BR and possibly lived. At higher levels, if you can’t use a BR, you won’t do very well.

hey guys i just had a silly fact. ok everyone knows about the medical bunker on turf. behind it there is a wall but look closely its acctually a big closed door. strafe towards it til you touch it and stay there the doorframe is metal so you can ricochet shots with a covvy or human sniper funny thing is its kinda curvy so your shot go all over the place one time i was playin with my bro and he watched from the bunker it made like 50 zigzagy things and hit my head in the back and died. keep up the good work. thanks for listening

I have some assault tips for you guys. When arming a bomb try and drop it into the arming spot rather than crouch-walking in so you can take the enemies by surprise. Also, when you begin to arm the bomb have your team mates make a lot of noise and distractions elsewhere. The reason for this is if the enemy is trying to defend grenades, sniper, rocket, and brute shot bullets, sometimes they don’t see the notice the alert on the screen that the bomb is arming! There will be no further announcements that the bomb is arming! Next thing they know the bomb is armed and planted and you scored. BANG! I found that these strategies have worked well in matchmaking and in custom games so give them a try and give me a shout out on the show.

I play on sensitivity 9 and i am an ok sniper, others say im awsome, but with the high sensitivity i can spin around fast and avoid anyone sneeking up behind me while i am sniping. With that high sensitivity you do lose some control over accuracy, but if you move your thumbstick slower you have more control. I use this high sensitivity, others think im crazy, but it really works for me if things get to hairy really fast. Later guys.

This tip takes practice- If you are forced into tight quarters with a 1 on 1 fight, shoot normally and if your opponent starts coming in to beat you down to finish you off, quickly click down the left thumbstick. This crouches you right under your enemies melee attack, allowing you a perfect melee right back at them to finish them off.

When playing on XBox Live, don’t just look at your radar, but on top of it as well. When people nearby you talk, it shows their name. This is helpful if you suddenly see a red dot dissappear on your radar, and you still see the person’s gamertag over the radar- this lets you keep track of enemies sneaking around.

On levels such as Lockout that have snipers, remember that snipers are powerful close-range weapons too! Hide near a corner, and as your unsuspecting prey comes around, get up close and personal with him and blast him/her with the sniper. Quickly follow through with a beat down and viola a quick kill! Great for catching people with swords off guard.

In objective games, don’t rely on plan to work out. In most team games, most teams have a rift formed between 2 sides when a plan fails. Your team should have at least 3 subdivsions of players. Each “team” can get certain supplies allocated to them, including weapons and vehicles. All the teams should execute their plans at the same time to overwhelm the enemy defense. This is the easiest way to end an objective game. This can work on the defensive, but it has to be done very quickly.

If there’s a grenade thrown at you, shoot at it. You have to use something that sprays. If you’re a good enough a shot, chances are you’ll hit it, detonating it in the air and saving your ass.

Map of the Month: Terminal – in depth edition

This map is such a great addition to the arsenal of battlefields on halo 2. Between the wraith, the rush for rockets, the sniper’s paradise, and the multiple ways into the base, it makes for some great battles at close, long, or mid range. What’s cool too is that there are a lot of different game types played on this map, like CTF, Assault, 3 plots, Team Rifles, Team Snipers, Team Slayer BR, etc.

There’s some basic terminology about this map that I’d like to mention just for noobs. There’s the auto shop that the offense spawns at in objective games, and there’s the base, where the objective point is. There’s the bridge of course that connects to that (which has 3 levels), and there’s the parking garage in front and to the right of where offense spawns. This has 2 levels, and the defense spawns in a catwalk above the second level. There is a wraith out the back of the base that the defense can make good use of.

Rockets spawn in the parking garage, sword is half way between the offense and defense base in the middle of the tracks. Sniper is on the same side of the map as the wraith. There are at least 4 ways into the base: below the bridge, across the bridge, back of the base, and the parking garage from either side.

CTF

For 1 Flag CTF:

Defense: Big advantage! You have the wraith, rockets and sniper all by you, but don’t get cocky with it. Leaving the base is the biggest mistake for the defending team. It leaves them open to a “in-and-out” Warthog capture. So stay in the base and you’re home free!

Offense: Don’t rush your attack, it leads to a “waiting for another warthog to respawn DAMMIT!” situation. Try to take out the Wraith first and foremost. Then have a team go in from the parking stucture and try to take out any remaining enemies. Then come in with the Hog. If you have your hands on the flag before the Hog arrives, throw it out into the open area under the train tracks facing your base. Once it is out there, they can’t stop you from capturing.

Ok heres another of Painkillas BTB strats.

Step one. 3 people board the warthog (bomb guy is passenger if its assault) The warthog goes under the tracks as shown in the picture below: (you forgot painkilla, we can’t show pictures on the podcast)

You drive the hog out of the tunnel and make a hard right into the base and one of the following: IF ASSAULT: slow down enough so the bomb guy can get out and start arming, the second hes out drive the hog out the other opening which should be infront of you at this point, and start attacking their wraith. If all goes according to plan, by the time the enemy will realize you rushed them itll be 2 late.

IF CTF: Drive right up to the flag, the passenger jumps out, grabs the flag, and jumps back in. The driver floors it onto the tracks and makes a hard left right out the front of the terminal and into your base in which youll score and the whole other team will be all leik WTF!

I do this strategy all the time and it works 90% of the time.

When you are on offence in CTF or Assault, You can make a sneaky entrence by going to the secound floor of the parking garage and taking the passage there. This puts you right behind the flag/plant spot. This is also a great way to take out the wraith tank if you have rockets. Just watch out for the other team above you.

if u r playing 1 flag ctf, MAKE SURE U TAKE OUT THE WRAITH!!! its pointless trying to capture the flag if u have a wraith blasting morters inside of the base. my best strategy to take out the wraith is to load up in the warthog, try to make sure the passenger has rockets, and dont take the straight away and then jumping across the train tracks, take the ground route, they wont expect it. when u r facing the wraith, drive in circles around the palm trees and what not and blast him with your gauss cannon and rockets. after u take out the wraith, then go for the flag.

This tip is for CTF or Assault. On offense, get into the ghost as fast as you can and drive to the front of the defensive base as fast as possible. If you get there fast enough and the other team is unorganized, you will be able to pick up the wraith. If you do this you will: keep the enemy from having the wraith, have a wraith for your team, and also be able to suppress the enemy in their base until the warthog comes with the bomb. If you are about to die, try to blow up with the wraith so the enemy can’t reclaim it. Along with this and the rockets, your team will have already won.

Assault

On offense, I usually just grab the Ghost and rush in, taking out either the turret or distracting the Wraith as long as possible while the bomb-carrier can either come in on a Warthog afterwards, or through the parking structure. Doesn’t always work as planned, but it usually provides just enough distraction to get the bomb either in or near the base.

Team Slayer

For Team Slayer BR:

GRAB THE WRAITH! The two teams spawn at either the top room or the garage. Whichever team you are on have at least two people rush the rockets. (this is where the first action of the game occurs, and you don’t want to be left alone.) So grab the rockets and your sniper and defend/destroy the wraith. If you are protecting, great job, the game is yours! If you are destroying, Watch out for the sniper, and take out that wraith! Once this is done, regain the courtyard and wait for the next one to spawn.

Rifles – first and foremost: if you spawn at the garage, KEEP YOUR POSITION! Have someone good get the sniper, and have him look out of one of the second storie windows. If he takes out the enemy sniper, you are home free. Everybody else take up a position somewhere inside that garage, wether it be on the slanted walls, or in a corner. (make sure you are not visible from anyplace outside of the garage!!) The snipers other job is to tell his team mates if someone is coming from some direction. As soon as they step in, BAM! they are hit with a barrage of bullets to the face.

Snipers – One good strategy that I’ve only seen being used once or twice is this one. Have 2 or 3 of your guys stand under the train tunnel near the wraith. this provides exelent cover for the peolpe inside, and almost none for the people outside. Any enemies have to come straight infront of you to attack, and you’re shrouded in shadow, and they are in broad daylight. To protect attack from behind, have the remainder of the team sit somewhere on the top, preferably on the building ledges.

One thing I do on this map is always rush for rockets, whether on defense or offense. On offense you can rush for them with the ghost. The problem is, they’re usually already well underway with the warthog by then, so when I’m on defense I always wonder what to do next once I get the rockets. If on offense, I’ll climb up the top and to the right and try to take out the wraith.

for team snipers. all ur team has to do is get the lead and camp out on the top level in the parking garage. but theres more specification to it. each member has to camp on each corner of the level so ur whole team has a view on the whole level. dis strat works really well. im done here so keep on fraggin

If you get the sniper in any gametype, don’t sit by the turret above the warthog spawn. That’s the place everyone goes to. Stand down next to the warthog, or ghost, and keep moving. Go up the ramps and use the side openings, but don’t sit next to the turret. Hang out behind the Wraith spawn or up the dirt road on the back of the map. Always keep an eye on the road, people use it a lot.

For Team Slayer:

Maybe I’m just a defensive player, but this map is so huge that it’s crucial to get good coverage. There is too much open area to get sniped in, unless you know for sure that you control both snipers. With good communication you can effectively control different zones of this map (parking garage, wraith garage, wraith field) and let gung ho players walk right into headshots and double teams over and over. No matter what, don’t constantly rush into the open trying to kill the sniper who just killed your teammate. Work together and find a create way to get the wraith with stickys, rockets or highjacking. A sniper can always be taken out with a few well placed BR shots, even those up on the ledges.

here’s a good sniper spot i know you probably already heard of it but here it is. The hill by where the wraith spawns is a goood sniper spot because it allows you to see straight down the map. You have to go up to where the train comes out of.

1: There are Battle Rifles (BRs) all over the map, and if you can land the head shots, pick one up. Of course there are a few carbines, or the Snpier Rifle. Theres one near the Garage (place where the Warthog & Ghost spawn near the road)
2: This map is commonly used for Sniping games, due to it’s tremendous size. There is one point, that if aquired should be kept. It’s high up and makes a perfect sniping point. It’s most commonly called the Sniper Respawn Point, because the only way to get up there is to respawn, jump on top of someone else or super-jump. The Sniper spot is one of the best places on the map for these games, also the most dangerous. When sniping you are exposed and more or less trapped and screwed if you get spammed with grenades.
3: The Wraith is one of the most powerful weapons in the game, If you have it for defense for assualt or CTF, It’s big and fun, but realatively useless as the other team avoids it and comes into the base on the terminal side (Side with the trains) instead.
4: Since there is a battle rifle for the defensive team, you should come in a vehichle. The warthog allows you to transport the bomb or flag carrier quickly from base 2 base.
5: When on defense if your ever killed, you respawn in the Sniper Spwan point so you can jump down, and resatart the pwnage.
6: Take advantage of room leading into the garage. It can be a good BR or Sniper point as well as a sneak attack point.

Heres one that some people may not know but if you run on the the left track facing were the train will come out so you can easily jump to the other track thus avoiding the train. So if your trying to get the sword run on the left track and you can see the train coming at you and safely avoid it all together but remember to jump back so you don’t get pwnd by the guardians from behind :-P just watch for snipers!

Grab the shotgun and rockets in the parking lot building and head upstairs. You will see two doors, head towards one, any will do. When you walk in, there is a small place you can stand to your right or left depending on which door you chose. This is a very good camping space because you can kill people who walk through and rocket people who come through the other way. This is very useful and only players who are really observant will notice you as they walk by. One time, I hid there with my shotgun crouched, and my teamate walked through and I scared him enough to smack me. lol.

FFA Slayer

For Rumble Pit/Free for All

I’ve played enough rumble slayer games here to know that sniper usually wins. Try to do your best to snag a sniper here and a good place to hide (around large rock in wraith field, on the incline in wraith field). Even if you get killed, you’ll probably pick up at least 5 good headshots before they get you.

Territories

3 Plots – the two most important plots on this map are the courtyard and the parking structure. It is hard to keep the traintracks because of well..THE TRAIN! It is allmost impossible to loose the courtyard, unless your wraith is a n00b. But the lower level parking structure is not so easy to keep. Usually what happens is that the enemy team is soo focused on the other two plots, that they only send one guy at a time to recapture this plot. The boxes nearby the plot provide excellent cover, so that anyone trying to take your plot will get assassinated.

Oddball

Team Ball hints on Terminal:
Have a player spawn in the area above the parking lot (the area that is almost unreachable). Have a teammate get the ball, run it to the opening, and throw it through up to the other player (its hard but I’ve seen it be done). The other player can camp up there and gain time for your team. Meanwhile, you can have your other teammates, find and hold onto other balls (if its multi-ball).

juggernaut

here’s a tip: do your best. These don’t get played much on this map or at all really.

Random Tip of the Week

ok i just got my copy of ANTZ the video game yesterday! so when you come to the level of the big epic battle against the Spittin’ Termites you got to stock up on your energy leaves, the extra ant skin armor, and most of all your guns (dont forget to get the BR - Bug Repelent weapon, make sure you dont point this to yourself either). so when you are in battle and see a giant llama termite charging at you, eat your energy leave so you can shake your rear body really really fast to bury yourself into the dirt and the termite will shoot at nothing but your helmet.
my favorite level is the one where it snows and you can snowboard down the ant hills and grind along grass blades… if you dont understand ask Foo mo jive. BTW dont confuse this game with Amped 2
